Zootopia 2 Box Office Collection: Disney Sequel Nears Major Domestic Milestone

Zootopia 2 Box Office Collection: Disney’s animated sequel is enjoying a dream run at the box office and is now just under $30 million away from becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 2025 in North America. With steady weekday numbers and strong family turnout, the film shows no signs of slowing down.

When Zootopia crossed the $1 billion mark nearly a decade ago, it was hailed as a major Disney success. Few, however, expected Zootopia 2 to outperform the original by such a wide margin. As of now, the sequel has collected an incredible $1.711 billion worldwide, making it the 9th highest-grossing film of all time globally and the second-biggest release of 2025 worldwide, behind only Ne Zha 2.

In North America, Zootopia 2 has already earned $394.9 million and is widely expected to cross $400 million this weekend. Doing so will allow it to edge past Frozen and secure a place among the top-grossing animated films in domestic box office history.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film currently ranks No. 3 in North America for 2025. It trails Lilo & Stitch by roughly $28–29 million, a gap that could easily close if current trends continue.

Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the sequel reunites Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde for a new mystery in the vibrant city of Zootopia. With projections pointing toward a $420 million domestic finish, Zootopia 2 is shaping up to be one of Disney’s biggest animated box office stories ever.
