Avatar: Fire and Ash Box Office Update — How Close Is It to Beating The Hunger Games?

Avatar: Fire and Ash Box Office Updated: James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash continues to show strong box office momentum as it approaches two months in theaters. The sci-fi sequel earned $3.4 million during the February 13–15 weekend and added another $0.6 million on Presidents’ Day, taking its North America total to $396.9 million. With steady weekday holds, the film is now expected to cross the $400 million domestic milestone soon.

Globally, the movie remains a massive success. With $1.064 billion collected internationally, its worldwide total stands at $1.460 billion, making it the third-highest-grossing film of 2025 so far, behind Zootopia 2 and Ne Zha 2. However, the domestic race is tighter, as the film currently sits slightly behind the 2012 blockbuster The Hunger Games, which finished its North American run at $408 million.

At the moment, Fire and Ash needs roughly $11.1 million more to surpass that mark. If its weekend drops remain stable, overtaking the Jennifer Lawrence-led dystopian hit appears achievable in the coming weeks.

The film continues Jake Sully and Neytiri’s emotional journey as they face new threats from the Ash People while dealing with personal loss. Starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, the epic remains a strong theatrical performer despite new competition at the box office.
