Ladki Bahin Yojana Installment Update: The Maharashtra government has provided clarity on the delayed installment of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, under which eligible women beneficiaries receive ₹1,500 every month as financial assistance. The January installment, which many beneficiaries were expecting earlier, has been temporarily put on hold due to election-related guidelines.
According to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the state government will not release the January payment in advance following instructions from the State Election Commission (SEC). As a result, the installment is now expected to be credited only after January 16.
Why Is the Ladki Bahin Yojana Installment Delayed?
Traditionally, the Maharashtra government has released advance payments during major festivals to support economically weaker women. However, this time the SEC has directed the government not to issue advance installments due to the ongoing civic body elections.
Speaking on the matter, Fadnavis clarified that regular installments are continuing as per schedule, but advance disbursements have been restricted. He added that the payment timeline aligns with the vote-counting date of the municipal elections held across 29 corporations.
Controversy Over Advance Payment Claims
The issue gained political traction after claims were made that eligible beneficiaries would receive a combined payment of ₹3,000 (for December and January) before Makar Sankranti. Opposition parties criticized this announcement, calling it an attempt to influence voters ahead of the elections.
Following a formal complaint to the SEC, the proposed advance transfer was halted, leading to the current delay.
