Maruti Suzuki Sales January 2026: Exports Double as SUVs Drive Historic Growth

Maruti Suzuki sales in January 2026 hit a new high. Total dispatches jumped 11.6% to 236,963 units compared to 212,251 units in January 2025. The real story? Growth came from exports and SUVs, not the old hatchback favorites.

Exports almost doubled, soaring 88% to 51,020 units from 27,101 last year. This big leap shows Maruti’s push into global markets is paying off fast. The new e-Vitara electric SUV, launched late 2025, is already shipping in large numbers to Europe and helping fuel this export boom.

At home, domestic passenger vehicle and LCV sales barely moved—up just 0.34% to 178,300 units. Meanwhile, sales to other carmakers rose a modest 2.4%.

The big winner inside India was the utility vehicle segment. Models like Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and the newer Victoris pushed SUV/MPV sales up 16% to 75,609 units from 65,093.

Small cars took a hit. Alto, S-Presso, Swift, Baleno, and others together fell to 87,006 units from 96,488—a clear drop. Indian buyers are clearly shifting toward taller, feature-packed SUVs.

The Victoris, launched mid-2025, is already making a strong impact in the premium SUV space for Maruti.

While Maruti Suzuki sales January 2026 look solid overall, the flat domestic growth shows tough competition. Rivals like Tata Motors (up 47%) and Mahindra (up 24%) grew much faster at home, thanks to their strong SUV lineups.

Maruti is clearly changing gears—focusing on exports and utility vehicles to stay ahead in a shifting market.
