Motorola is preparing to disrupt the Indian mid-range market once again. The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, expected to arrive in the first week of March 2026, brings headline-grabbing features rarely seen at this price point. A gigantic 7000mAh battery, ultra-bright quad-curved display, and the world’s first use of Sony’s new LYT-710 sensor make this device stand out.
Display that shines outdoors
The phone features a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED panel with quad-curved edges. The curvature wraps around all four sides, giving a premium, near-bezel-less appearance and comfortable grip. Peak brightness reaches an impressive 5200 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even under harsh sunlight.
It supports HDR10+ for richer colours in videos and includes 144Hz refresh rate for buttery-smooth scrolling, animations and gaming. Gorilla Glass 7i provides solid scratch and drop protection, while Smart Water Touch 3.0 allows accurate use with wet fingers or in rain.
Camera powered by debut Sony LYT-710 sensor
The biggest talking point is the rear camera setup. Motorola claims the Edge 70 Fusion will be the world’s first smartphone to feature the 50MP Sony LYT-710 (LYTIA series) main sensor paired with Optical Image Stabilization.
The LYT-710 is engineered for better light capture and faster readout speeds, which should translate to noticeably cleaner low-light photos, reduced noise, and improved dynamic range. It also enables smoother 4K video recording with effective stabilisation.
Complementing the primary lens is a 13MP ultra-wide camera that doubles as a macro shooter. On the front sits a 32MP selfie camera capable of recording 4K video—ideal for content creators and video calls. Motorola has traditionally delivered clean, natural-looking images in the Edge series and early indications suggest the LYT-710 upgrade will push performance further.
Performance and endurance combination
Inside is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset built on a 4nm process node. It offers strong efficiency for daily tasks while delivering respectable gaming and multitasking performance in the mid-range category.
What truly sets the Edge 70 Fusion apart is battery capacity. Despite measuring only 7.99mm thin, it houses a 7000mAh silicon-carbon battery—the largest ever in Motorola’s Edge lineup. Real-world usage should comfortably deliver two days of moderate to heavy use. Refuelling happens via 68W TurboPower wired charging, which can push the battery from near-empty to full in roughly 40–45 minutes. No wireless charging is expected at this price segment.
Build quality and protection
Durability receives serious attention. The device carries IP68 + IP69 certification, meaning it survives complete dust ingress and high-pressure, high-temperature water jets—stronger protection than most mid-rangers offer. The back panel sports a leather-inspired texture in Pantone-validated shades: Blue Surf, Silhouette, and Country Air. These finishes aim to feel premium while resisting fingerprints.
Launch timeline and expected pricing
Motorola has already started teasing the Edge 70 Fusion on social media and Flipkart microsite pages. The official India launch is widely expected during the first week of March 2026, though a late February reveal remains possible. The phone will be sold exclusively via Flipkart.
Pricing is unconfirmed but industry chatter points to the ₹25,000–₹30,000 bracket. If Motorola hits that range, the combination of 7000mAh battery, ultra-bright 144Hz OLED, IP69 rating and segment-first Sony LYT-710 sensor positions the Edge 70 Fusion as one of the strongest contenders against upcoming Redmi Note, Realme Narzo/Pro and Poco models in early 2026.
Verdict
Motorola appears to be doubling down on the two things Indian buyers value most at this price: exceptional battery life and capable cameras. If software experience remains clean and update support is solid, the Edge 70 Fusion has genuine potential to become a bestseller in the crowded sub-₹30,000 space.
