Rajpal Yadav Jail Release Update: After more than a week inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail, our favorite comedian Rajpal Yadav finally has good news. The Delhi High Court granted him interim bail today, February 16, 2026, in the long-running ₹9 crore cheque bounce case. He is expected to walk out of prison later today.
The news has brought smiles to fans and the industry, where Rajpal is loved for his hilarious roles in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hungama, Chup Chup Ke, and Phir Hera Pheri.
Rajpal Yadav Case Backstory
It all started with Rajpal’s 2012 directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata, starring Om Puri and Ashutosh Rana. He borrowed ₹5 crore to make the film, but it flopped badly. The debt grew with interest to nearly ₹9 crore. In 2018, a lower court convicted him under cheque bounce laws and gave him six months in jail.
He appealed, and in 2024 the High Court paused the sentence if he paid back in parts. But missed deadlines led to his surrender on February 5, 2026.
Today’s Dramatic Hearing
On February 16, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma heard the bail plea. Rajpal’s team promised to deposit ₹1.5 crore right away. By 3 PM, the money reached the complainant’s account.
The court confirmed it and gave interim bail till March 18, 2026. Conditions include a ₹1 lakh personal bond, one surety, passport surrender, and no leaving India without permission.
Rajpal’s manager Goldie told Hindustan Times: “Yes, it’s true. It’s a very happy day for us.” He added that industry friends quietly helped with money, and Rajpal plans a press conference soon.
Bollywood showed support—Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, and others offered help. A viral video about Salman Khan was debunked, but the love from fans and stars is real.
With bail granted, Rajpal gets breathing room to repay and return to work. Fans are trending #RajpalYadavBail with joy and memes.
