Despite international gains, the road to profitability looks steep. With a production budget of $50 million, industry experts estimate the film needs around $125 million worldwide to break even. At its current pace, Shelter is tracking toward a significant financial loss for Black Bear and its distributors.

Comparison with Other Films

Even with its struggles, Shelter has already outgrossed Dwayne Johnson’s 2025 biographical drama The Smashing Machine, which earned $21.1 million globally. Domestically, Statham’s film is also on track to surpass Johnson’s numbers soon, giving Shelter at least one comparative victory.
