Diesel model proves to be the most popular choice
Among the different powertrain options, the diesel variant has emerged as the most preferred, accounting for nearly 55% of total bookings. Petrol models make up around 25%, while the turbo-petrol version contributes 20% of overall demand. The numbers underline Indian buyers’ continued preference for diesel engines in SUVs, especially for their balance of performance and efficiency.

Available with manual and DCA automatic transmissions, this engine is not offered in the top-spec Accomplished+ variant. - Turbo-petrol engine
Designed for buyers seeking higher performance, this engine comes only with an automatic gearbox and is limited to Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims.
Color options and trims
The Tata Sierra is available in six exterior colors:
Andaman Adventure, Bengal Rouge, Munnar Mist, Pristine White, Pure Grey and Coorg Cloud. All six shades are offered across the top three variants, giving buyers plenty of personalization options.
Why 70,000 People Booked the New Tata SUV in 24 Hours
The Sierra’s strong bookings can be credited to its combination of competitive pricing, multiple engine choices, automatic transmission availability, and a fresh yet familiar design inspired by the iconic original Sierra. With diesel models leading the charts and turbo-petrol options attracting performance-focused buyers, Tata Motors appears to have struck the right balance with this SUV.
As deliveries begin in mid-January 2026, it will be interesting to see whether the Tata Sierra can maintain its momentum and convert its massive bookings into sustained sales success.
