The Raja Saab worldwide box office collection: film breaks two Telugu records despite slow run

The Raja Saab worldwide box office collection: The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, is currently running in theatres but is facing mixed fortunes at the box office. While the film opened to massive expectations, it has received lukewarm reviews from critics and is struggling to maintain momentum after a strong start. Made on a reported budget of Rs 400 crore, the film is yet to cross even half of that figure worldwide.

However, amid falling collections, The Raja Saab has still managed to achieve a notable milestone by surpassing the box office records of two Telugu films.

The Raja Saab worldwide box office collection

The film had an impressive start at the worldwide box office, collecting around Rs 100 crore on its opening day. However, collections dropped sharply on Saturday, with earnings falling by nearly 51 percent. The downward trend continued on Sunday as well, with domestic collections seeing another 20 percent decline.

By the end of Sunday, The Raja Saab had earned approximately Rs 109 crore net in India, while its gross domestic collection stood at around Rs 130 crore.

Worldwide box office performance

According to media reports, The Raja Saab has collected around Rs 158 crore gross worldwide in three days. With this figure, the film has managed to break the lifetime box office records of Akhanda 2 and Mirai.
Akhanda 2 had reportedly earned Rs 128 crore in its lifetime run, while Mirai had collected around Rs 150 crore worldwide.

Despite this achievement, trade analysts believe that given the current pace, it may be challenging for The Raja Saab to recover its massive production cost. That said, the upcoming Makar Sankranti holiday on January 14 could provide a temporary boost to the film’s box office numbers.

Cast, director and fan craze

The Raja Saab is directed by Maruthi and features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani and Zarina Wahab.

Ahead of the release, the film witnessed massive fan enthusiasm. Prabhas’ fans celebrated his on-screen entry with aarti, firecrackers and loud cheers inside theatres, reflecting the actor’s unmatched fan following.

What lies ahead?

While The Raja Saab has shown it can pull crowds initially, its long-term box office fate will depend heavily on weekday performance and holiday collections. With high expectations still riding on festive footfalls, all eyes are now on whether the film can slow down its decline and improve its overall worldwide tally.
