Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV Electric SUV India Launch Soon: Toyota is preparing to enter India’s mass-market electric vehicle segment with the upcoming Urban Cruiser BEV, a new electric SUV expected to debut in the first half of 2026. This model will be a major milestone for Toyota, as it will be the brand’s first widely accessible EV for Indian customers.

With a claimed driving range of over 500 km, modern styling, and advanced safety features, the Urban Cruiser BEV is designed to appeal to both city commuters and long-distance users.

The Urban Cruiser BEV will be built on the new Heartect-e platform and will be locally manufactured in India. Toyota is developing this electric SUV alongside Maruti Suzuki, and both brands will share core EV architecture and production facilities at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. This localization strategy is expected to help Toyota price the SUV competitively in a fast-growing and price-sensitive EV market.

In terms of design, the Urban Cruiser BEV is expected to feature a futuristic and aerodynamic exterior. Highlights may include slim LED headlamps connected by a light bar, a closed front grille, bold bumper elements, and sporty aero-style alloy wheels. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps are likely to enhance its premium SUV appeal. Compared to current ICE models, the electric version is expected to offer a wider and longer body for improved cabin space.

Inside, Toyota is expected to focus on comfort and technology. The cabin may feature a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and a minimalist dashboard layout. Comfort features such as ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, and adjustable rear seating are also anticipated.

The Urban Cruiser BEV is expected to be offered with two battery options—49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger battery could deliver a real-world range of around 500–550 km on a single charge. Safety features may include up to seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ESC, and TPMS.

Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV Electric Expected to be priced from around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will compete with upcoming electric SUVs from brands like Hyundai, making it one of the most anticipated EV launches in India.
