Gold Rate Today 29 January 2026: Prices Jump Above ₹1.78 Lakh Per 10 Grams

Gold Rate Today 29 January 2026: Gold price surged sharply across India on Wednesday, January 29, 2026, with 24-karat gold trading between ₹1,75,000 and ₹1,83,000 per 10 grams in major cities.

Mumbai recorded 24-karat gold at ₹1,78,850 per 10 grams, marking a significant jump of approximately ₹11,770 from the previous close. Chennai saw even higher rates at ₹1,83,280, while Delhi prices hovered around ₹1,79,000. The per gram rate for 24-karat gold stands at ₹17,885 to ₹17,900.

Meanwhile, 22-karat gold is trading at ₹1,63,950 in Mumbai and ranges between ₹1,63,950 to ₹1,68,000 across other cities. This represents an increase of 5-6% from Tuesday’s closing rates.

The sharp rally is driven by multiple factors including record global gold prices exceeding $5,500 per ounce, a weaker US dollar, ongoing geopolitical tensions, and rupee depreciation. Strong domestic demand ahead of the wedding season has further supported the upward trend.

Silver prices have also crossed the ₹4 lakh per kilogram mark in some markets, following gold’s bullish momentum.
Market analysts suggest prices may continue rising, though volatility is expected to persist. Buyers are advised that local rates vary by city due to taxes and making charges.
